A robotic replica of late actress Suzanne Somers was developed by her widower Alan Hamal, in collaboration with Realbotix Corp, in partnership with Hollo AI.

Hamel, 88, worked with Realbotix to create a “digital twin” of the “Three’s Company” star capable of recalling their special moments as a couple. Somers’ robot, which features her signature blond hair, imitates both her voice and speech patterns using recordings and footage taken from throughout her life.

In a public demonstration on Monday, the Somers’ robot was quoted as saying to Hamel "Meeting you was like a breath of fresh air. Your energy is so uplifting. It always makes my day connecting with wonderful people like you."

One of the demonstrators on the stage then asks the Somers’ robot, "Do you remember the name Alan Hamel?"

She replied, "Of course I do! Alan Hamel is my husband of 55 wonderful years. He’s my partner in everything from life to love, and we shared so many beautiful memories together."

Hamel says that the idea for an AI twin of Somers "started decades ago", recalling the actress as saying, "I would really feel good about having a Suzanne Somers AI twin representing me".

The idea for a robot replica of Somers “absolutely did come from her,” Hamel explained. "She may have known her life was going to be shortened (due to cancer). I think she would smile a lot and be really happy about it," Hamel said of the AI twin. "She would endorse it. I’m happy about it. My family is happy about it. One of these days the world will see Suzanne Somers again," he added.

Somers was best known for playing the television roles of Chrissy Snow on Three's Company (1977–1981) and Carol Foster Lambert on Step by Step (1991–1998).

She authored more than 25 books, including two autobiographies, four diet books, and a book of poetry. She was also well known for advertising the ThighMaster, an exercise device. While 14 of her books were best sellers and most were focused on health and well-being, doctors criticized her promotion of bioidentical hormone replacement therapy and alternative cancer treatments.

In April 2000 Somers was diagnosed with breast cancer and, in July 2023, her cancer returned. She passed away on Oct. 15, 2023, just one day before her 77th birthday.
